A brief study of Proverbs 3:1-18 can start by carefully observing the text.

I?ve used a green pencil to highlight all the words that refer to the reader ? words like you and your. Then I used a yellow pencil to highlight all the references to God ? Lord, Him, He, etc. These markings will help us notice repeated themes and patterns in the passage.

After doing this, I could glance back through the text and easily see every pronoun that addresses me, the reader. That led me to make a list of all the ?your phrases? in the passage: your neck, your heart, etc. (Not pictured) Seeing all these phrases in one place may prove helpful as I continue studying.
