First John 3 is going to make clear how God’s children are supposed to behave.
For those of you who have done the “Give Me Understanding” study, you’ll remember Hebrews 4:12 referring to God’s Word as a two-edged sword that pierces the soul and spirit. That sword is doing its job in this third chapter of 1 John!
It’s going to remind us that we can’t make a habit of sinning and claim that we are God’s children. It’s going to point out that God’s love can’t be abiding in us if we aren’t laying down our lives – and our belongings – for our brothers and sisters in Christ. It’s going to tell us that we shouldn’t be surprised when the world hates us.
And it’s going to remind us that we know love because Jesus loved us and laid down His life for us.
We’ll start out reading the entire book of 1 John to get the big picture. Then we’ll get a bit of background on the book of 1 John. We’ll be reading the chapter many times, making lists, marking words, looking at the meaning of words, maybe drawing a picture or two.
Our goal is to look at what is there in the text and then think about what it means and how it applies to our lives.

What Others Have Said
Such Great Love!
By: Susan Menzmer
This study will really help you catch a glimpse of the great love God has for you! There are not proper words to describe God’s love, as no one has ever or will ever love us as much as He does! He calls you His precious child—and so you are.
This will be a hard wonderful study. Really looking forward to it. I’m convicted just reading the chapter!
