“And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord.” 2 Samuel 12:13a
I started out planning to study 2 Samuel 12 and Nathan’s rebuke of David, hoping it would help us gain some wisdom about correcting our children.
But to study Nathan’s rebuke, we need to back up and study Chapter 11 to understand why he is rebuking David.
Studying David’s fall into sin is going to teach us a lot about how we fall into sin.
And studying David’s response to God as He speaks through Nathan is going to teach us a lot about confessing our sin and restoring our fellowship with God.
Studying Nathan’s response to David’s confession is going to teach us a lot about God’s grace and forgiveness, and it’s going to teach us about the consequences of our sin, even when we’ve repented.
So jump in and join me. We’re going to try to squeeze Chapters 11 and 12 of 2 Samuel into this study, along with a brief look at Psalm 51. We’ll save a deeper look at that psalm for another study.
