Jonah: Mercy in the Storm

We all know the story of Jonah, a disobedient prophet who gets swallowed by a big fish.

But the story is about much more than that. This is an opportunity to use the inductive Bible study method to really look at the text and see what is there.

In this study we’ll be making careful observations, marking words, and making lists. We’ll see that Jonah’s story is also about:

  • God and his incredible mercy & compassion
  • How we can show that same mercy to others
  • Learning boldness and willingness to share God’s Word with people who are different than us, or who may even be our enemies.
  • How God pursues us when we disobey, including the storms that come with disobedience
  • God’s good & sovereign control of all things
